OFC Champions League 2006-07 - Summary

For the first time in Oceania club football history two New Zealand sides from the same city were entered into the competition.

Defending champions Auckland City, paired alongside Waitakere United in Group A,  produced a titanic struggle for the sole finals berth.

Waitakere emerged victorious from that epic showdown but they received a major shock when they lost the first leg final  to Group B winners Ba, 2-1.

In the return match at Mount Smart Stadium, Ba threw everything at Waitakere, before losing 1-0 thanks to a second half goal by Allan Pearce.

Victory on the away goals rule confirmed Waitakere United's first ever Oceania club title and a berth at FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2007.
