2009 O-League

OFC Champions League 2009-10 - Summary

For the first time in O-League history the regional title of Oceania club champions went to a team outside of New Zealand.

Papua New Guinea champions Hekari United picked up their first title with a 4-2 aggregate win over Waitakere United.

A 3-0 win in Port Moresby combined with a nervy performance in a 1-2 defeat at Whenuapai sealed a memorable victory for Papua New Guinean football.

Waitakere had earlier pipped arch-rivals Auckland City on goal difference  to finish top of Group A and claim a finals berth.

But the trophy would head to Port Moresby for the first time as the Hekari club made Oceania football history with a victory that catapulted them onto the world stage.
